Greg Hodge, the outspoken CEO of BeautifulPeople.com appeared on Lorraine this morning defending the site and its latest product launch: a recruitment service to match good looking people to jobs.

BeautifulPeople.com has caused yet another global storm with its latest service for members: a recruitment agency, based on their belief that employers wish to hire good looking staff.
Please don’t think we agree with the site’s principles: we do however handle all press, crisis matters and media relations globally for the site and we’ve had a great deal of interest – as always – from tv and newspapers the world over.
We’re currently preparing for a morning TV show appearance…(not us, we’ve not got enough time to spend as long as we’d need to in hair and make-up…). But watch this space!
We started off freezing in the January rain, working alongside ActionAid to create the world’s first ‘Happy Bubble’, a place where the best things in life were given freely to passers-by, alongside giant plasmas playing footage of the life saving work that the charity does in the developing world. Together with our survey, which revealed the things that truly make us happy, we achieved wipe out national broadsheet and tabloid coverage and quite a few radio interviews. We’re proud to say that we were chosen to be featured in PR Week’s Campaigns of 2011 (at news-stands right now!) for this very successful integrated communications strategy.
March saw us manning the media room at WOW, the inaugural Women of the World festival at London’s Southbank Centre. We were excited to be working with Annie Lennox, Kate Nash, Paloma Faith and VV Brown. Thank you to Grazia, the Daily Mirror, Radio 4 and Marie Claire for some great press support.
As spring and the Royal Wedding approached, we were delighted to learn that our jewellery client Robinson Pelham had been asked to design a collection of jewellery for HRH the Duchess of Cambridge to wear on her wedding day. The pieces they created are now recognised all over the world, and our invitation to comment on the wedding live from the media centre at Buckingham Palace meant that we had the ear of the most influential global media. It was a day we’ll definitely not forget in a hurry!
As summer set in, we had to fire fight for online dating client, BeautifulPeople.com, which once more had to cull members who didn’t belong on the site. The decision to remove 30,000 ‘shreks’ went viral – for the third time in twelve months, the site was featured across global news platforms, from tv and radio to websites and blogs.
Our campaign brought us to the attention of Pussy 100% Natural Energy Drinks, who were gearing up for a global launch with investment from Holly and Sam Branson.
This announcement received over 3,000 pieces of online coverage and a great piece in the Sunday Times. Here’s what we got up to with the Bransons and Jonnie Shearer at the Kensington Roof Gardens one blustery autumn day!
Towards the end of the summer, we worked with the late, great Gerald Laing; the British pop artist whose striking portraits of Brigitte Bardot and Amy Winehouse are instantly recognisable throughout the world. Gerald was planning his Amy Winehouse tribute exhibition at Thomas Gibson Fine Art in Mayfair. Thank you to Aidan Radnedge at Metro for featuring the exhibition so prominently. We were very sad to hear only a month later that Gerald, aged 75, had passed away. It is a huge honour to us that we worked on what turned out to be his last exhibition.
October and November also came with heart warming projects; firstly for the British Red Cross, to create and man the world’s first ‘Food Insecurity Market’ (we simultaneously contained a front page news crisis for our client Jani-King live from Spitalfields) and then for the European launch of mothers2mothers, an incredible charity that reaches one in five of the world’s HIV positive women. It was wonderful to work with Annie Lennox, XIX and the amazing Kim Chappell of Chappel Productions once again.
As the New Year approaches, we have two new wins to announce. One is the most exciting digital fashion launch for young women and the other is an iconic cartoon character that anyone who grew up in the 80’s will love and know. But that’s all we can say for now!
We are really looking forward to the next 12 months.
HAVE A GREAT CHRISTMAS!!!!
BeautifulPeople.com, the lookist dating site with its finger on the pulse of all things superficial has caused a further storm with its latest controversial story: a news release revealing the ugliest and most beautiful royals in history! Golden Goose PR is excited to see that a number of our favourite female style icons are at the top of the survey. At number one is the late Princess Grace, followed by the beautiful Queen Rania of Jordan and our very own Kate Middleton – who beats Princess Diana with a small percentage of votes, proving that British princesses must truly deserve a place in history as some of the most beautiful damsels in the land. This is what the New York Post had to say to it subjects on the matter….
After England’s swift exit from the World Cup we couldn’t help wondering do looks play a part? Never one to shy away from honesty, the world’s most controversial dating website BeautifulPeople.com asked its members to vote on the most attractive and least attractive players this World Cup. After tallying more than 200,000 votes, England striker Wayne Rooney was named the ugliest footballer on the planet. He was closely followed by Franck Ribery from France, Carlos Tevez from Argentina and Serbia’s Vladimir Stojkovic. The most beautiful football player- Italy’s Fabio Cannavaro beat the likes of playboy football player Cristiano Ronaldo and Thierry Henry. The BeautifulPeople.com ‘dream team’ and ‘scream team’ sparked debate and made headlines all over the world about what we look for when it comes to our sporting superstars.
Golden Goose PR is delighted to have been shortlisted for the Global Public Relations Award by the Chartered Institute of Public Relations. The campaign we will be presenting to the judging panel is Festive Fatties for Beautifulpeople.com, a publicity generating idea that we are immensely proud of. This year the CIPR Excellence Awards received over 750 entries across the 27 award categories and so it is a great achievement to have reached the final stage.
CIPR Acting Director General Ann Mealor said: “Congratulations to this year’s finalists. It’s great to see the profession rise to these challenging times to produce such outstanding work. Having faced a rigorous judging process to reach this stage, we look forward to recognising and rewarding the best in the profession at the Excellence Awards 25th Anniversary dinner on 16 June.”
News about our festive fatties campaign for BeautifulPeople.com is still as rife as ever. PR Week has dedicated two pages to the subject this week, with some very nice feedback from Deliberate PR. We wanted to share the article with you…
Coverage is still pouring in surrounding our story that 5,000 festive fatties were ditched from BeautifulPeople.com for indulging in a mince pie too many over the festive season. Japan, Russia and New Zealand are the latest to file the news, while back home in the UK, BeautifulPeople.com continues to be a hit with the tabloids. Stories have been appearing alongside the scantily clad blondes gracing the pages of the Star and the Sun and wait a minute…news is just in that we have reached the highbrow read that is the Spectator, the educated man’s answer to heat magazine.
We were excited to read that Toby Young, the Spectator’s revered columnist had a good root around the site – even though he didn’t get voted on. Some cynics could say that his review of the site could be tinged with sour grapes, but we thought it was so brilliant that we had to share it anyway.
